    The Libyan Intervention in the Rear View Mirror

    When we look back on the Libyan intervention, will we think of it as another Rwanda, another Somalia, or something else entirely? ‘Rwanda’ reminds us of the shame of inaction, ‘Somalia’ reminds of the costs of poorly executed action, and ‘something else’ stands for the promise of doing the right thing.

    Lorsque nous considĂ©rons l’intervention libyenne Ă  l’aune de ses prĂ©cĂ©dents historiques, allons-nous penser que c’est un nouveau Rwanda, une nouvelle Somalie, ou encore autre chose ? Le Rwanda Ă©voque la honte de l’inaction, la Somalie rappelle les coĂ»ts d’une action mal exĂ©cutĂ©e, et «autre chose» pourrait renvoyer Ă  la promesse de faire enfin ce qui convient.
